Date of Separation – Cultural Divorce Part VII is the seventh of Abbas Hadjian’s CULTURALLY SPEAKING series published in The Daily Journal.
The “date of separation” is the subject of my 7th article on Cultural divorce in the Los Angeles Daily Journal. I believe that Family Code Section 70 fabricates an opportunistic free zone of separate interest at the end of a failing marriage. Unscrupulous spouses will take advantage and will attempt to re-brand community property as separate property.
I also believe that the date of separation has an anti-cultural aspect by allowing a unilateral claim of separate property during an intact marriage affecting the balance of interest of the families involved…
